Glaucoma
What is Glaucoma?
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, which is necessary for good vision. Glaucoma is caused by chronically high pressure in the eye. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60. While can occur at any age, it is more common in older adults.
Many times, glaucoma has no warning signs. The effect of the condition is so gradual that patients often don’t notice a change in vision until the condition is at an advanced stage. If left untreated, glaucoma can eventually cause blindness.
If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma, it is important to keep on top of treatment opportunities to ensure you take advantage of the right treatment and can maintain your vision for as long as possible.
